Transferring a website via control panel or FTP
Transferring websites to our web hosting server space can be done either directly from the Plesk control panel with the file transfer function, or using separate FTP software. Alternatively, you can also transfer websites (e.g., those built with WordPress) directly from another server using the '
Website Import' tool found in the control panel. If you want to start building completely new pages directly on the server, you can install
directly from the control panel
, in which case there is no need for manual file transfer.

However, this guide section covers the traditional methods for file transfer through the control panel and using separate FTP software.

File transfer in Plesk control panel

If you have multiple web hosting subscriptions with the same Plesk account, make sure before starting the file transfer that you have selected the web hosting to whose disk space you intend to transfer files from the 'Subscription' dropdown menu in the upper right corner of the control panel.

After this, you can select 'Files' from the control panel, which opens the following view for file transfer:

Your home directory should contain at least the directories error_docs, httpdocs and logs - but depending on the services connected to your web hosting, there may also be other files and directories here by default. However, the actual website files are transferred to the httpdocs directory, so click on it next and your website space's default directory opens as follows:

In this view, you see the files in your httpdocs home directory (by default at service opening time favicon.ico, index.php and robots.txt). By selecting the white "Upload" at the top, you can select the HTML files and directories you want from your own computer and transfer them to the disk space. By default, there is a file named index.php in the disk space, which should be replaced with a file of the same name (or e.g., named index.html), so that your website's front page starts opening from the server with your web address. Transfer all your HTML website files to this directory and the site should start working on the server.

The tool also allows you to perform all other common disk management operations, such as:

  • Create new files and directories on the server via the New button

  • Copy, move and delete files and directories in disk space with Copy and Move as well as Remove buttons

  • Extract file packages and compress them with Extract Files and Add to Archive buttons

  • View the total size of selected files with the Calculate Size button found under the More menu and change their date with the Change Timestamp button

  • From the hamburger menu found for each file, you can also edit the file content with text or code editor as well as rename the file or change its permissions (chmod)

File transfer with separate FTP software

File transfer can also be done with separate FTP software, which must first be downloaded and installed on your own computer for use. You can use, for example, the following software:

After downloading and installing your chosen program, you can connect to our server using the FTP protocol. The instructions needed for login were sent to you by email when the service was opened (message titled "Web hosting has been opened for domain..."). If you have forgotten the FTP username and password, you can change these in the Plesk control panel from Websites & Domains -> FTP Access. Click on the FTP username and enter a new password twice in the fields reserved for it and press OK.

NOTE! By default, our servers are accessed via FTP protocol on port 21, and other protocols are not supported. If you want encrypted file transfer based on the SFTP/SCP protocol operating on port 22, request this from our customer support. This is not enabled by default, as chrooted SSH shell access is also enabled at the same time. However, you can get all these additional services free of charge by requesting them from our customer support.
