In addition to webmail , email accounts on our server can be read with email programs that support POP3 or IMAP protocols, such as
Thunderbird, Outlook, Mac Mail, or smartphone email applications.
When you want to read your email with a separate program, create an email account in the program with the following information:
- Username: your@emailaddress.tld
- Password: (the password you defined when creating the account)
- Root folder path/IMAP path prefix: INBOX
- The incoming mail IMAP/POP3 server is determined based on which server your customer account is located on. You can see your own server from the email message you received when processing your first order (with the subject 'Welcome as a customer') or by logging in to your 'My Hostaan' account. You log in to incoming and outgoing mail servers with the same credentials. Accepted protocols and ports are as follows:
- POP3 port: 110
- POP3 SSL port: 995
- IMAP port: 143
- IMAP SSL port: 993
- SMTP port: 587
- SMTP SSL port 465
We primarily recommend using the POP3 protocol, in which case emails are automatically transferred to your own computer and the server's mailbox never fills up. The good thing about the IMAP protocol is that you can view old email messages from multiple different devices, but the mailbox must be emptied from time to time. By default, the mailbox has 1 GB of space for messages and attachments per box, but you can also increase the space limit with an additional paid product.
If you read messages from multiple different devices, you can also use both protocols in parallel. The POP3 protocol can be set, for example, to the primary desktop computer in the office and the IMAP protocol to other devices. In this case, the message history is saved on the primary computer, and the mailbox does not fill up. However, new messages can be read on other devices using the IMAP protocol.
Messages not loading in Outlook

As an outgoing mail SMTP server, you can alternatively also use your own Internet operator's email server, in which case login is usually not required separately. However, use may be subject to email delivery restrictions due to your domain's SPF, DMARC, and DKIM records. The most common operators' outgoing email servers are as follows:

For operators, the SMTP port is 25 and SMTP SSL port 465. The connection only works through your own operator's connection and typically without logging in with credentials. Check the information from your own Internet operator if necessary.
